The Cake Boss

Another good day with the grandkids. We cooked today. Thomas and Cooper have been watching the Cake Boss. We made a strawberry cake. These boys live to lick the beaters. Thomas is so patient, he lets the little boys have the beaters...
and he waits for the spatula...he knows there's more batter on the spatula.

He talked about making Fondant. We will have to do that the next time. I didn't have the ingredients that I needed.

He must have seen the cake boss use real flowers...he insisted on decorating with them.

It was really good. He had a good time anyway...

So, today after a school field trip to the pumpkin patch....
We carved pumpkins. Last year I did it by myself with the boys observing, but this year I decided to shake things up a bit.
After cutting the tops off the pumpkins, I let the boys scoop the inside out. I thought they would tire of it much sooner than they did, but they hung in there pretty good. They enjoyed getting their hands down in the pumpkins. It was ooey-gooey. Cooper really prefered to use his spoon. He doesn't reallylike to get his hands all sticky!!!This is gross Memaw!
See how much I got Memaw!!!

I think I'll just use my spoon now.

I carved them out for the boys. Thomas's pumkin is the one on top. It only has 2 teeth. He said that's because he has two loose teeth! I am not ready for him to loose his baby teeth, but that day is coming soon. Their looks change so much. He really will be a big boy then won't he? He is excited, he has several friends that have begun to lose their teeth.
Cooper and David wanted scary faces. That's about as good as I can get with a paring knife.

Can you tell which one is tired, sleepy, crabby, fussy and doesn't want to wait til after supper to eat his ice cream from the ice cream truck???

It was another blessed day. Soon to have more when my Mom and Daddy will be here with us. I am looking for that day!

Another precious life

We found out last week that Mamas (Crystal) and Ben are expecting another baby. Little David was three in April, so this will be a sweet addition to their family. Everybody tells us we need a little girl, but we are partial to little boys. Honestly we could care less. You love them all the same. Any new life is a blessing. We have had a few scares during delivery with our other grandchildren, so of course we pray for God's grace to this child to be healthy.
Mamas doesn't even see her dr. for another week or two, so we're not even exactly sure of the due date. Will let you know then. We are thrilled.
